BACKGROUND

OMD Design is a multidisciplinary practice founded in 2011 with diverse expertise in design and development at various scales. Our projects include multi-unit residential buildings, custom detached and urban infill housing, commercial and residential interiors, and product design. 

 

APPROACH

We strive to tailor our services for our client to identify the goals from the outset and to maintain the design intent from initial concept to the completion of construction. We approach design in the holistic sense, to create comfortable, sensitive, adaptable, durable, efficient, and well-crafted spaces that precede and supersede catchphrases like “sustainability.” We focus on conceptualization at all scales from the fit and finesses in detailing of cabinetry to siting strategies for multiple buildings.

In our share-based economy and crowd-sourced society, nothing is conceived in isolation. We do not subscribe to the fallacy of the designer as a sole agent of the creative process. Instead, our practice fosters a collaborative design process that incorporates feedback from key stakeholders as a hallmark of good design practice.  We believe that interaction between the client and the designer is critical in making a space work. We place emphasis on quality control and management during construction as part of the continuum of creative labour. We thrive on turning limitations into design parameters, physical constraints into challenges and out-of-the-box opportunities.
